More information on the sport and dogs

When you are looking into this sport and especially adding a new member to the family in the shape of a Sleddog, you should do a little research (a lot actually).

While almost any dog can pull a sled, experience has shown us that people interested in the sport who are looking for dogs, will lean towards a Sleddog, eg Siberian Husky or Alaskan Malamute as well as many other breeds. Whilst these are magnificent dogs and I personally would reccommend them as a wonderful companion, I would also warn of the potentially explosive energy levels and amazing affection as well as their tendancy to attempt to catch the horizon. Yes, these dogs are born to run and that is what they do best, so please research them a little before jumping in so you are aware of their personality traits.

Being aware will ensure that you may have a wonderful experience with your new family members and the sport that you can enjoy together.
