WASSA Quiznight

Come and join us for the first event of the year! Enjoy fun-filled night with the dog sledding community talking about tips and tricks, splashes and spills while getting all the important questions answered correctly.

Beginner Days –
Does your dog love to run?

When: 11,12 and 19 April 2020 at 3:00 pm
Where: Gnangara Pine Plantation (Entry off Pessoa Rd)

Calling all aspiring mushers and their dog(s) to come and try the sport of dryland sledding!

Club members will guide you through short runs for you and your dog to experience the sport. Sledding harnesses to fit your dog(s), scooters and cycling helmets will be available to borrow. Bring your own cycling helmet if you have one.  Wear enclosed shoes suitable for walking/running.

Bring water for your and your dog(s). All dogs must be on leash.

Cold refreshments will be provided.

Beginners’ Camp

When: 15-17 May 2020
Where: Venue TBC

This is the weekend for new mushers to learn about the sport and get a good start to the season. You will learn about dog health and well-being, equipment, training your sled dog, mushing etiquette, and much more.  You can participate in mock races and get to meet experience members who can assist with all aspects of this exciting sport.

The registration fee covers meals, accommodation and 3 days of invaluable workshops and training.

Single Heat Races

When: 13 June 2020 at time TBA and 5 September 2020 at time TBA
Where: Gnangara Pine Plantation (Entry off Pessoa Rd)

The one-day Canicross and Bikejoring races to be held in metropolitan Perth in June is the perfect lead-in to Race 1 of the season.  While the one in September rounds up the race season nicely.  It’s quick and fuss-free.

Race 3:  8-9 August 2020 (ASSA Point Score Race), venue TBA
Race 2:  29-30 August 2020, venue TBA

These are the four competitive races held by WASSA this year. Each race go towards earning points for the State title in all classes. More details and entry forms are posted on the relevant Races pages of the website, closer to the event times.

AGM & Presentation Night

Where: TBA

We incorporate our annual general meeting into our end of year awards night, we use this night to celebrate the season past and focus on the improvements that can be made for years to come.

This is an open forum for members to discuss any changes they wish to see and also amendments to the Constitution. We also vote in the new committee and present all awards to the lucky winners of the season.
